Crew Chief

Job Description:

At VHI, the work of our Crew Chiefs are critical to the success of the company. Ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency at the work site will lead to future growth for both the company and the members of the staff. Crew Chiefs must demonstrate a strong aptitude of insulation and carpentry related work. They must be able to manage their crew to maximize both efficiency and quality. Crew Chiefs are ultimately responsible for all aspects of the job which include keeping homes clean and free of any damages.

Responsibilities:
  • Insulating and weatherizing homes
  • Using cellulose to dense pack walls
  • Installing fiberglass in attics and roof vents
  • Air sealing attics and basements
  • Lead installation crew
  • Ensure Safety, productivity, and quality as well as checking for potential hazards
  • Perform work stated on the workorder and adjust both scope and cost based on conditions on the ground
  • Manage interactions with any city inspector onsite
  • Perform blower door and combustion safety tests
  • Communicate with homeowner before and during work performance
  • At job completion, walk through property with owner ensuring satisfaction and then have homeowner sign off
  • Ensure appropriate materials are being used based on required application
  • Other duties as assigned by VP of Operations
Qualifications:
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Previous insulation or light carpentry experience is preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Comfortable in confined, sometimes cluttered conditions
  • Comfortable on tall ladders and rooftops
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
